Capital Chordettes’ Very Large Quartet “Sweet A Cappella” took time to bring some holiday harmony to the residents at St Patrick’s Home.
2016 Dec 3 – Capital Chordettes Christmas Market & Concert – Deck the Halls!
The Capital Chordettes entertained an appreciative audience with seasonal favorites at its Christmas Market and Concert, held at the Ron Kolbus Centre on December 3, 2016. In addition to great singing, the Chordettes offered a variety of gift items at craft, jewellery and bake tables, and silent auction.

In keeping with the Capital Chordette tradition, a highlight of this annual event was a financial donation presented to Hazel Smith from Children At Risk by presiden Cathy Thompson.
Children at risk is the chosen charity of the Capital Chordettes and they financially support Children at Risk through their fundraising efforts. This organization provides This organization provides services and programs to families of children diagnosed within the Autism Spectrum Disorders.
November 20, 2016 – Benefit Brunch For Autism
The Capital Chordettes were pleased to entertain at the KDS annual brunch to raise funds for Children at Risk and Autism Supports in the Ottawa Area.

Barbershop Boot Scootin – Sweet A Cappella gave a toe-tapping performance at the Bytown Beat Halloween Café with their rousing rendition of Brooks & Dunn’s “Boot Scootin’ Boogie”.

Halloween turned into fundraising fun for the Capital Chordettes as they prepared two pumpkins for the Celebrity-Carved Pumpkin Contest for Children at Risk. The Chrodettes received help this year from the “Cherub and Junior Choirs of Glen Cairn United Church” who had a ball carving the pumpkins. The youngsters benefited from doing something positive for Autism and hopefully learned something too. The carving being done by such youngsters added a certain charm to the finished product. Autism is the charity of choice for the Capital Chordettes and we proudly support Children At Risk, a charitable organization providing services in the Greater Ottawa area to families of children diagnosed within the Autism Spectrum Disorders.
May 19, 2016 – Swinging into Song!
The Capital Chordettes got a little help from “Champ the Bear” at the Ottawa Champions Baseball Opening Night. Champ joined the Chordettes in the singing of the Star Spangled Banner and O Canada. It was a perfect evening for the opening of a new season and a great first WIN for the Ottawa Champions!
14 May 2016 – Capital Chordettes Qualify for International Contest!
The Capital Chordettes, a women’s a cappella singing group from Ottawa, Ontario entertained a captive audience at the 2016 Annual Area Contest held in Devens, Massachusetts. They were thrilled to qualify for the International Convention and Contest which will be held later this year in November.
To ready themselves for the contest, the Capital Chordettes performed their bridal theme song set that included “A Million To One You’re In Love” and “Get Me To The Church On time” for an audience of family and friends. Costumes of the song’s era and cleverly crafted choreography enhanced their performance.
2 April 2016 – Capital Chordettes Swing into Spring!
The Capital Chordettes and Quartets welcomed spring with a Swing into Spring Big Band Dance and Concert.
Music was supplied by the local 14-piece Big Band, Standing Room Only. The audience danced to the vintage sounds of Glenn Miller and Duke Ellington, the swinging sounds of Frank Sinatra, some cool Latin jazz, and even some 50s music.
The Capital Chordettes Chorus, and quartets Group Therapy and Sounds Like Fun completed the evening’s musical trip through time with some of our favourite selections from the 60s to the present: the toe-tapping Good Ole A Cappella, the 70s crowd-pleaser Happy Together, the inspiring African anthem Something Inside So Strong and even some Broadway songs.
Audience members showed off their dancing talent during the band’s sets and everyone enjoyed the special atmosphere provided by the glittering lights of the mirror ball. It was a wonderful evening, filled with music, fun and friendship!
